Umber Ruinstrider is a natural fit for a collector who prefers an earthy mount palette. The plated Argus talbuk body gives it a tougher appearance than an ordinary Outland animal while keeping the recognizable long-horned shape.

Its source is straightforward after the campaign setup: one reputation at Exalted, one quartermaster, and a gold purchase. You are not waiting for a randomly colored mount from a reputation cache.

Quick Answer

Purchase Reins of the Umber Ruinstrider, item 152796, from Toraan the Revered on the campaign Vindicaar above Argus. It requires Argussian Reach Exalted and has a 10,000-gold base price before applicable discounts. Use the reins to learn this permanent Retail ground mount. Both factions can collect it, and current Argussian Reach standing is shared across the Warband.

Mount Overview

Umber is one of the separately purchased colors in Legion's Argus ruinstrider selection. Its warm, muted appearance is the main distinction from Toraan's cooler and darker alternatives.

The model is a personal ground mount with protective-looking plates. Those plates do not provide a combat bonus, and the animal has no passenger seat, flying mode, or merchant service.

Do not confuse it with Halaa talbuks, garrison-trained talbuks, or rare-drop Argus animals. Similar body shapes can have entirely different requirements.

Begin with Existing Access

Check Argussian Reach in the reputation panel before planning another farm. Current Retail's Warband reputation system can already supply Exalted from earlier progress.

That shared standing is separate from a character's Argus story and travel state. A fresh alt may still need the introduction and a usable ship phase even when the reputation bar is complete. Prefer a character who has already visited the campaign.

Search the mount journal as well. A forgotten Umber purchase on an older character means there is no reason to buy another set of reins.

Reach Toraan's Ship

After the introduction, use the Lightforged Beacon at Krasus' Landing in Broken Isles Dalaran to return to the Argus campaign Vindicaar. Do not use Northrend Dalaran as the destination.

For a first visit, follow The Hand of Fate from Khadgar after the relevant Legion and Broken Shore introductions. Complete the faction referral and the initial Vindicaar quests, then continue into the Argus storyline.

The Child of Light and Shadow is an important early checkpoint for world quests and campaign state. Later branches extend access into more of Krokuun, Antoran Wastes, and Eredath.

Toraan is on the upper deck toward the stern and starboard side. His Argussian Reach inventory is different from the Army of the Light shop, even though both quartermasters use the same vessel.

At Exalted, select the Umber reins, confirm the uncollected marker, and pay the actual displayed gold total. Use the item from your bags to learn the mount immediately.

Reputation Activities to Prioritize

Complete available story quests first. Their reputation and activity unlocks make the later farm more flexible than repeatedly checking an early, limited world-quest map.

Look for Argussian Reach world quests in Krokuun and Eredath. Rare-elite world quests throughout Argus can also award both Argus reputations, so inspect the objective rewards rather than judging only by the zone name.

Fuel of a Doomed World and Invasion Onslaught become useful weekly assignments once unlocked. Each normally gives 1,000 base reputation with both Argussian Reach and Army of the Light.

When an Argussian Reach emissary is active, finish its required world quests and complete the turn-in. Relevant insignias or Demon's Soulstones already in storage can add standing when consumed.

Do not calculate a guaranteed finish from a fixed daily reward total. Starting standing, bonuses, unlocked areas, and weekly timing differ. Use the actual faction bar and respect individual objective and loot restrictions.

Requirements and Price

The buyer needs Argussian Reach Exalted, access to Toraan's campaign inventory, the gold payment, and normal ground-riding eligibility. There is no class, profession, void elf recruitment, or raid-achievement condition.

The base cost is 10,000 gold. Applicable vendor discounts can lower the amount displayed, so budget the base price and verify the merchant total when buying.

Army of the Light standing cannot replace Argussian Reach. Likewise, merely unlocking an allied race under current rules does not prove the required mount reputation was completed.

Travel and Merchant Troubleshooting

If Toraan is missing, first check the upper deck and the character's unfinished Argus quests. Where you have the destinations unlocked, moving the ship to an Eredath or Antoran Wastes phase can help resolve confusion over an early Krokuun appearance.

The mount merchant is not down at Krokul Hovel. A faction's ground headquarters and its quartermaster's purchase location can be different.

Use the campaign return beacon instead of assuming every Vindicaar recruitment or racial scenario includes Toraan. Unlock useful Argus beacons while questing so reputation sessions involve less backtracking on foot or ground mount.

Is Umber Ruinstrider Still Obtainable?

Yes. This is a permanent standard-Retail reputation-vendor reward. It is not limited to Legion Remix or an expired season, and it is not hidden inside a paragon cache.

Once Exalted and merchant access are ready, there is no additional random acquisition stage. Buying and learning the exact item completes the entry.

Who Should Prioritize This Mount

Collectors with shared Exalted standing can treat the mount as a gold decision and a short ship visit. For a fresh account, the reputation project becomes more worthwhile when multiple ruinstrider colors are missing.

Umber's restrained palette is useful for leather, neutral mail, and expedition outfits. Its older Legion model offers less visual noise than many newer magical mounts, which can be an advantage for everyday riding.
