Sable Ruinstrider is the understated choice in Toraan's colorful Argus selection. Its darker palette lets the plated talbuk body remain recognizable without competing with every glowing detail on a character's armor.

This is a merchant reward with a clear finish line. The work is reaching Argussian Reach Exalted and establishing ship access, rather than waiting for a rare enemy to drop the right color.

Quick Answer

Purchase Reins of the Sable Ruinstrider, item 152791, from Toraan the Revered on the Vindicaar at Argussian Reach Exalted. The listed base cost is 10,000 gold before applicable vendor discounts. Use the reins to learn this shared-faction ground mount. It remains obtainable in Retail; current Argussian Reach reputation is shared across the Warband, while campaign access still needs checking on the buyer.

Mount Overview

The Sable color belongs to Legion's Argus ruinstrider family. These animals have the long-horned talbuk silhouette with heavier protective plates that distinguish them from ordinary Outland reputation talbuks.

Sable is an independent collection entry. Other colors from Toraan do not automatically teach it, and a similarly dark talbuk from Halaa or Draenor is not the same mount.

It supports normal ground travel only. There are no passengers, onboard merchants, or special flight abilities attached to the plated appearance.

Check Progress Before Starting Over

Open Argussian Reach in the reputation interface. Current Retail's shared standing can make an older character's completed reputation useful across the Warband, so do not assume a new buyer must repeat the full grind.

Campaign progress is a separate matter. A character without the Argus introduction may still lack the beacon, world quests, or the merchant's normal ship phase. An established Legion character is often the most convenient buyer.

Check whether Sable Ruinstrider is already learned before moving gold. Buying a duplicate set of reins does not add another mount-count entry.

How to Reach Toraan

Use the Lightforged Beacon at Krasus' Landing in Broken Isles Dalaran after the Argus introduction. It returns you to the campaign Vindicaar above Argus, rather than the Northrend version of Dalaran or a different scenario ship.

For first access, begin The Hand of Fate from Khadgar after the relevant Legion and Broken Shore introductory requirements. Follow the faction travel chain into the Vindicaar campaign and continue its quests.

The Child of Light and Shadow is an important early checkpoint for opening Argus world quests and the relevant campaign state. Continue the regional quest branches to reach additional activities in Krokuun, Antoran Wastes, and Eredath.

On the Vindicaar, find Toraan on the upper deck toward the stern, on the starboard side. The Army of the Light quartermaster is a different nearby merchant. Do not mistake that shop for the ruinstrider seller.

At Exalted, select Reins of the Sable Ruinstrider, pay the displayed gold price, and use the item from your bags. That is the final unlock, with no subsequent reward roll.

A Practical Argussian Reach Routine

Complete available story quests before settling into repeatable activities. They provide standing and open more useful world-quest areas, making the route less restrictive.

Check Argussian Reach world quests in Krokuun and Eredath. Rare-elite world quests across Argus can also credit both Argus reputations, so inspect the quest rewards rather than relying only on the creature's location.

When unlocked, complete Fuel of a Doomed World and Invasion Onslaught. These weekly assignments have a normal base reward of 1,000 reputation with both Argussian Reach and Army of the Light.

An active Argussian Reach emissary is another useful stop. Consume relevant reputation insignias or Demon's Soulstones you already own instead of leaving them unused in storage.

Judge the farm by the faction bar. Quest availability, existing standing, and bonuses vary, so a fixed daily total or guaranteed finishing date is not reliable for every account.

Requirements and Price Details

You need Argussian Reach Exalted, access to Toraan's campaign ship inventory, enough gold, and normal ground-riding eligibility. No profession, class, raid achievement, or allied-race unlock is required.

Budget the 10,000-gold base price. Applicable discounts can lower the merchant total, so use the amount actually shown at purchase rather than treating a discounted figure from another character as a universal additional requirement.

Army of the Light Exalted does not replace Argussian Reach. Likewise, unlocking void elves under current allied-race rules does not by itself prove this reputation was completed.

Missing Merchant and Travel Tips

If Toraan is absent, check the upper deck and the character's Argus campaign state. Where your navigation console allows it, try the Vindicaar above Eredath or Antoran Wastes rather than assuming the first Krokuun phase is the only merchant location.

Use the campaign beacon to return. A Vindicaar associated with a different recruitment or racial scenario is not automatically the same service hub.

Argus travel uses its beacon network. Unlock relevant stops while questing so a reputation session does not become repeated long ground trips between every objective.

Is It Still Obtainable?

Yes. Sable Ruinstrider remains a permanent Retail vendor collectible. It does not require an active Legion Remix event, a raid loot reset, or a rare spawn. Once the reputation and buyer access are settled, purchase timing is flexible.

Who Should Prioritize This Mount

Collectors already Exalted should treat it as a gold-and-travel decision. A dark ruinstrider is versatile with plate, leather, and restrained cloth sets, while its fixed source is appealing between longer random-drop projects.

If several colors are missing, finishing Argussian Reach has broader value because the same standing opens the whole related shop selection. Buy only uncollected colors and learn each item once.

• Umber Ruinstrider offers a warmer muted palette in the same family.
• Bleakhoof Ruinstrider is a separate achievement goal rather than another ordinary vendor color.

Final Thoughts

Use existing shared standing where available and reach Toraan with a properly progressed character. The Sable mount is then a fixed merchant purchase, not an uncertain Argus drop.
